One of an exceptional grouping of cabinet photos that we are breaking into individual lots featuring members of the 1896 Cornell football squad. Under coach Joe Beacham the program then in its 10th season finished with a 5-3 record behind Yale and Harvard for third place in their Independent conference. Virtually all of the players are unidentified unless specifically noted each grading in the VG/EX range with photos appearing NM and edge and corner wear to the mounts. Specific condition issues are noted in the individual descriptions of each of the photos. An excellent assortment of early Ivy League football cabinets. The only one of the young men depicted in these photos not to be dressed in his Cornell sweater this player is attired in jacket and tie. The image quality is strong though some various small marks and stains are evident. The upper-left corner of the mount is fairly severely clipped though the mount is otherwise reasonably strong. On this example the image itself is framed by an ornate border one of just a few in this collection so adorned.
