In 1948 the Exhibit Supply Company issued a set of 32 cards in green of various sports champions. The 1949 edition expanded the issue to 48 cards. As part of the production process the company printed proof sheets. They are rare items in and of themselves. The example offered here is made all the more desirable to collectors of football golf and boxing cards because it contains the lower-left quadrant of the 48-card 1949 Champions sheet that contains golfer Ben Hogan (the most valuable card in the set) football Hall of Famers Marion Motley and Otto Graham and heavyweight champions Jack Dempsey and Joe Louis. Exhibiting minor wear throughout the attraction here is the scarcity as well as the subject assortment on the sheet.
