Extraordinarily difficult pair of 9x12" supplements from The Stage depicting third baseman Denny Lyons and pitcher Edward Seward both of the Philadelphia Athletics of the American Association. Both of these difficult supplements exhibit wear some uneven trimming along the edges along with some edge wear and small edge tears particularly at the top of each. The left edge of the Lyons supplement have been repared with clear tape. Though we have encountered one or two supplements from this issue we have never encountered more than one at a time. The supplements were issued weekly between May and August of 1889 and included players from both the New York Giants and both Philadelphia teams a complete set of which includes 14 supplements including Hall of Famers Wilbert Robinson Tim Keefe Buck Ewing and John Ward. The Lyons is also considered one of the keys to the issue. Two very rare supplements.
