Unusual matted and framed display piece depicting newspaper supplement photos of the 1929 Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Athletics. The two powerhouse teams would square off in the World Series with the Athletics defeating the Cubs in five games. Between the two teams 12 Hall of Famers appeared including Gabby Harnett Hack Wilson Rogers Hornsby Kiki Cuyler and Joe McCarthy of the Cubs (plus owner Bill Veeck) and Lefty Grove Al Simmons Jimmie Foxx Mickey Cochrane Eddie Collins and Connie Mack of the Athletics. The two photos virtually identical in layout and design likely appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper (the Inquirer receives photo credit for the Athletics piece and the consignment originates from a large East Coast collection. Though the (modern) matting and framing prevents us from examining the condition of the pieces the display quality is strong EX in its frame.
