The 1960-61 season marked the final season of professional baseball in Cuba; as the new Cuban government abolished professional baseball at the end of that season. While baseball remained the most popular sport in the country the teams are all amateur teams. Up until then players from the American Major minor and Negro Leagues played in the Cuban league however Fidel Castro's revolutionary government nationalized businesses and barred American players from playing in the 1960-61 season resulting in the league's final year consisting of a four-team league with all Cuban players. The final pennant was won by the Cienfuegos led by pitcher Pedro Ramos. Presented is the official program from that final Championship in poor condition (as is the case with the majority of the surviving paper items from Cuba in this era) exhibiting considerable wear creasing and staining. Despite this it remains a tremendous display one of the finel documents of professional baseball in Cuba and one of very few items documenting pro baseball after the revolution.
