Issued to Associated Press writer Will Grimsley and signed by Hall of Fame journalist Dick Young this all-access pass to the 1961 baseball season undoubtedly witnessed some incredible feats as Grimsley was based in New York. The 1961 season saw the legendary home run race between Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris with Maris eventually breaking Babe Ruth's record by clouting his 61st home run of the season on the final day. The 1961 season was also an expansion season as the American League added a new Washington Senators team as well as the Los Angeles Angels. Grimsley undoubtedly attended some of these games. The pass itself is in VG condition with considerable wear evident along the right edge in the form of soft corners and edges and some creases. The top and bottom edges also exhibit softness though the full-color pass remains quite elegant and attractive. Some writing in ink on the reverse is also evident. Still an outstanding pass from one of the game's greatest-ever seasons.
