Two great Hall of Famers - Joe Louis and Satchel Paige - met at a game in Chicago in 1948 captured for posterity in this outstanding 9 1/2" x 6" photo. The two legends shake hands Paige in full Indians uniform. The photo itself is in FAIR condition with toning and cracking to the emulsion along with a small tear at the bottom-right. The reverse exhibits some paper remnants from scrapbook removal. Still an outstanding document of the meeting of two legendary African-American athletes prior to the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement.
