Originating from a single sheet of transfer stamps made in Germany for American sale that contained portraits of Dempsey and Tunney and scenes from their "Long Count" fight. Full sheets of the stamps appear in another lot in this auction but this lot contains the far more elusive point-of-sale display backing board to which the pad of transfer stamp sheets was stapled. It contains full length illustrations of Tunney ("The Glorious Champ") and Dempsey ("Always Game Und Powerful"). Only a handful of these 4" x 5.5" display pieces are known to exist understandable since they were designed to be thrown away after the stamp sheets were sold. Poor condition but in the case of this piece condition is besides the point.
