Gorgeous Type 1 photo dated June 21 1939 titled "Gehrig Talks With Mates Again " depicts Gehrig in the Yankee dugout chatting with John Schulte Lefty Gomez Joe Gordon and Bill Dickey. The early summer of 1939 featured much concern over the Yankees hero who took himself out of the Yankee lineup on May 2. June 21 the date of this photo was the date the Yankees announced Gehrig's retirement - his smile in the photo looks genuine yet the looks of concern on his teammates' faces do as well. The photo appears extremely strong the slug still attached to the reverse. A wonderfully clear and striking document of one of the game's most tragic and most enduring stories.
