Probably teh most important card in the T212 Obak issue this example has been graded FAIR 20 by SGC. Despite the lower technical grade the card presents quite well with a clean image strong centering and a clean back. Overall light wear at the corners edges and surface account largely for the grade as do some mild surface abrasions on the reverse. Buck Weaver has become one of the most popular and important subjects in the prewar baseball hobby. A member of the 1919 White Sox he was banned from baseball by Judge Landis for knowing his teammates' plan to throw the World Series but not telling officials. Despite hitting .324 in the Series and maintaining throughout his entire life that he was not involved Weaver's ban remained and is still in place today. His legacy has grown over the years and despite a .272 lifetime batting average in just nine seasons his cards often sell for prices far higher than those of Hall of Famers from the same era.
