Beautiful 4" x 5 1/2" card issued in 1886 by the Lorillard Tobacco Co. these cards are particularly rare and desirable. Four different team cards are known - Chicago Detroit New York and Philadelphia with each card depicting eleven players plus a ballfield diagram on the colorful front and the team's schedule on the reverse. Today these are highly desirable and quite valuable. This particular example features the Detroit Wolverines one of the most desirable teams of their era. Depicted on the card include Lady Baldwin Ned Hanlon (HOF) Jack Rowe Charlie Bennett Larry Twitchell Dan Brouthers (HOF) Deacon White (HOF) Hardy Richardson Jim Manning Sam Thompson (HOF) and Charlie Hall. Graded PR 1 (MK) by PSA the card presents much nicer on the front with some mild discoloration and very light corner rounding. The reverse exhibits paper loss and paper remnants from having been removed from a scrapbook the owner stamp underneath the remnants accounting for the MK qualifier. Regardless of the back damage a fine specimen of a difficult card featuring four Hall of Famers.
