There are several schools of thought on the nature of blank-backed Ramlys with prevailing wisdom indicating that there are two distinctly different groups of cards: the first group are often thought of as "half" cards which are essentially traditional T204s that have lost their backs (Ramly scholars maintain that the earliest printed versions of the cards were actually two pieces of adjoining stock; a front and a back and these "blank backs" are half the thickness of such cards). The second group are "true" blank backs found in just six different subjects in the T204 set - Anderson Bancroft Bransfield Burkett Dineen and Moran - the same six cards found with the rare "square frame" fronts. Presented here is an example from the former group - one that was likely at one point a front and a back printed separately and then joined together in an early Ramly print run. At some point in the card's life the back was lost. The card as with the others is graded "blank back" by SGC the POOR 10 grade a result of severe surface wear that is clearly visible on the front. Still the value in this card is in the scarcity of the back which is relatively clean and visible.
