Extremely rare blank-backed card from the T204 Ramly issue. There are several schools of thought on the nature of blank-backed Ramlys prevailing wisdom today indicates that there are two distinctly different groups of cards: the first group are often thought of as "half" cards which are essentially traditional T204s that have lost their backs (Ramly scholars maintain that the earliest printed versions of the cards were actually two pieces of adjoining stock; a front and a back and these "blank backs" are half the thickness of such cards). The second group are "true" blank backs found in just six different subjects in the T204 set - Anderson Bancroft Bransfield Burkett Dineen and Moran - the same six cards found with the rare "square frame" fronts. This example of Bil Dineen was consigned as part of a large type card collection in our last auction and pulled from the auction due to our failure to notate the true rarity of the "true" Ramly blank backs. This example graded GOOD 30 by SGC appears in fine shape with just the traditional wear to the surface and gold leaf borders typical with this issue. An exceptionally scarce variation from a popular tobacco issue.
