Measuring approximately 12 3/4" x 10 1/2" this oversized cabinet features the future Hall of Fame catcher with the Lima team of the Ohio State League just prior to his debut with the 1897 Washington Senators. Bresnahan was at the time both a catcher and a pitcher and actually pitched in six games with the 1897 Senators going 4-0 with a 3.95 ERA. Bresnahan's brother Jim was also on this team (pictured at top-left). To brother Jim's left in the photo is Jim Delehanty the team's third baseman. The photo clearly exhibits considerable wear with significant soiling to the mount some minor tears to the edges of the photo itself some light pencil markings on the reverse. The photo itself exhibits wear with surface abrasions resulting in significant paper loss on the photo surface. That being said the key elements of the image - namely that of Bresnahan his brother Delehanty and the various pieces of baseball equipment in the photo - are clear and easily visible. Overall despite the many condition flaws this is an outstanding pre-rookie cabinet photo featuring the greatest catcher of his era just 18 years old his entire career still ahead of him.
