Any collectible related to the 1919 season is in great demand among hobbyists today due to the World Series scandal. Presented is a particularly unique item a full-season pass to both American and National League clubs courtesy of the Baseball Writers Association of America. The pass was issued to James M. Gould a writer for the St. Louis Star in 1919. Gould was in his first year as baseball editor for the Star a position he would remain in for nine more years before moving to the larger St. Louis Post-Dispatch where he would remain a baseball and football writer until his 1943 retirement. As baseball editor for the Star it is not only likely that he used this pass frequently throughout the season it is also quite possible that he attended World Series games in Chicago and Cincinnati. His pass is well-worn and soiled yet still displays extremely well. Some minor creasing and tearing is present particularly along the top edge. The reverse exhibits considerable paper loss and paper remnants a clear indication of scrapbook removal. Still a wonderful document of the widely-collected 1919 baseball season.
