The key card in one of the hobby's most rare and desirable vintage bakery issues this is a spectacular card from the very rare D304 General Baking Co. series. Issued between 1911 and 1914 by the Buffalo NY company the issue known today as D304 and commonly called "Brunners Bread" cards is one of the most unique issues of its era partially due to the odd size of the cards and partially due to the striking images of the subjects with poses unique to this issue as opposed to other issues of the day that were known to "share" poses across different sets. The D304 issue is also significantly more rare than the popular tobacco issues of the era with key cards rarely becoming available for sale in the hobby. Extremely difficult to obtain in any condition this example has graded FAIR 20 by SGC due primarily to the set's ACC designation "D-304" having been written in ink on the card reverse. Can you imagine? While we did consider submitting the card to PSA in hopes of attaining a higher grade with a qualifier it is our opinion that the card would not grade higher than FAIR due to the heavy crease evident on the front of the card so heavy as to break the surface of the card significantly. The eye appeal is there however a well-centered and colorful example likely the finest eye appeal among all examples of this card at similar grade levels.
