Philip Knight Wrigley son of William Wrigley was the owner of both the chewing gum company that bore his family name and the Chicago Cubs. Wrigley maintained ownership of the Cubs until passing the title to his son in 1961. Wrigley was also the founder of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during World War II. That league was the subject of the great film A League of Their Own.Presented are three photos of Wrigley each cut from a newspaper or magazine and signed by Wrigley. In each case the signature is bold and clear (though not as legible in the top left image due to the darkness of the image). Wrigley who passed in 1977 never won a World Series during his tenure as owner yet still presided over the family businesses with professionalism. A business innovator Wrigley was one of the first to hire a staff of specialized coaches for his team (though he had no "head coach") and also was a leader in licensing sports broadcasts to local radio stations as a way of generating interest and selling tickets. An impressive collection of signatures from the "other side" of baseball the business end without which the game might not exist today. *Please note that this item is guaranteed by Love of the Game to pass authentication from one of the hobby"s three major autograph authenticators: James Spence Authentication PSA/DNA or SGC Authentic.
