Gorgeous complete 1965 Topps set from the Texas Find. Each of these cards were purchased in packs by the original owner in 1965 then carefully inserted into "photo corners" and affixed into a photo album where they remained for nearly 50 years until we removed the cards just this summer. As a result they have retained spectacular color and gloss appearing as if they were issued yesterday. The giveaways are of course the 1960s Topps centering coupled with modest corner wear largely the result of being inserted into the photo corners all those years ago. We elected to submit just three cards from the set to PSA from this set largely because the corner wear was slightly more pronounced with the 1965 set than from most of the others from the 1960s. The results were a mixed bag: Card #250 of Willie Mays was graded NM-MT 8 card #526 of Catfish Hunter was graded NM 7 but card #477 of Steve Carlton received a grade of GOOD 2. Upon closer inspection we feel that the grade is likely due to a strange fade to the blue on the reverse possibly from being in contact with the paper backing of the photo album. A percentage of the cards in the set have a similar fate but the Carlton rookie is the only one of the key cards so affected. We remain surprised at the grade. Condition breakdown in the set is 11% NM or better 32% EX/MT 47% EX and 10% VG/EX and lesser.
