Collection of three photos related to Commissioner of Baseball Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis' investigation into gambling, beginning on Jan. 5, 1927. The investigation was prompted by "Black Sox" co-conspirators, first baseman Chick Gandil, and former infielder Swede Risberg, who had made accusations that the White Sox and Tigers conspired to fix games late in the 1917 season. Dozens of players from both teams were called as witnesses but no judgements were levied by Landis in the end. Includes:

1) Significant photo from the hearing depicting Judge Landis with both Swede Risberg and Chick Gandil immediately beside him. Date stamp of Jan. 12, 1927 appears on verso – the very day the investigation concluded. Measures approx. 6.5" x 8.5" with no signifigant condition flaws besides an area towards upper-right corner where a paper clip once rested. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. 2) Chick Gandil portrait in a seated pose during the proceedings. A wonderful look at the former ballplayer/boxer that measures 6.5" x 8.25". Scattered handling wear and evidence of editorial masking material removed from surface. Full paper caption provides contact with a Jan. 7, 1927 date stamp applied. Guaranteed Type 1. 3) Chick Gandil shakes hands with Swede Risberg during the inquiry. A small tear is present to the right edge, reenforced with tape on reverse. Measures approx. 5.75" x 6.75" and bears date stamping of Feb. 25, 1927.
