Collection of eight photographs with direct relevance to the Black Sox trail that began on June 27, 1921 at the Cook County Courthouse in Chicago. Controversially, the trial concluded on August 2, 1921 with all defendants acquitted by the jury and subsequently permanently banned from organized baseball for life by new Commissioner of Baseball Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis. Includes a mix of Type 1 and Type 3 photos as noted:

 1) Classic, often reproduced image depicting Buck Weaver and Swede Risberg during the 1921 Black Sox trial. Full paper caption related to a later, 1927 inquiry into gambling which has been applied where another paper caption has been removed. A few wrinkles but otherwise remains in excellent condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (6.5" x 8.5"). 2) Pitcher Eddie Cicotte during the 1921 Black Sox trial. Superb overall condition with a chip to lower-right corner. Bears date stamp of July 7, 1921 and includes full LOA from PSA/DNA (6.5" x 8.5"). 3) Hall of Famers Eddie Collins and Johnny Evers beside Kid Gleason posed with Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis. According to paper caption on verso the trio were attempting to clear the name of Sox pitcher, Dickie Kerr who today we know as one of the "clean" Sox not involved with the fix. Caption displays date stamp of 12/12/22 and photo remains gently sepia toned. Guaranteed Type 1. 4) Gambler David "Bennett" Zelcer takes the stand during the Black Sox trial. Zelcer was gambler Abe Attell's roommate during the 1919 World Series and both men were instrumental in acquiring funds with which the player were paid off. Excellent condition with date stamping of Aug. 1 1921, the day before the jury supplied it's verdict. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (7.5" x 10.5"). 5) Defense attorney's for the Black Sox during the 1921 trial. Sharp edges and corners with the men ID'd on reverse in pencil. Bears date stamp of July 27, 1921. Produced from a dupe neg and guaranteed Type 3 (4.5" x 6.25"). 6) Portrait photo of Arnold Rothstein, "The Big Bankroll" who financed the fixing of the 1919 World Series. A 4.75" x 6.5" photo produced from a duplicate negative (Type 3). Full paper caption from Nov. 5 1928 when he was shot during a poker game in New York City. He would pass away shortly after. 7) Cook County Courthouse where Black Sox trial took place. Image captured during the Leopold & Loeb murder trial in 1924. Sep. 10 1924 date stamp with full paper caption. Guaranteed Type 1 (8" x 10"). 8) Images from what appears to be roll film depicting Judge Hugo Friend at the Black Sox trial. Handwritten details added on verso.with date stamping of July 27, 1921, exactly one month after the trail began. Visible creasing to lower-left corner, reinforced by tape on reverse. Created from a duplicate neg and guaranteed Type 3.
