Grouping of 19 glass magic lantern slides depicting the 1914 Cleveland Naps at spring camp in Athens, GA. An impressively clean grouping overall with high quality, crisp images that present magnificently well. Black paper borders surrounding the 3.25" x 4" translucent slides remain fully intact, handsomely framing each scene. A small paper label remains affixed to lower-right corner of most, presumably for numbering purposes, though no markings are present. Included 1) Fun image of Naps players spelling the word "NAP" while sitting on a set of bleachers. Close inspection reveals Shoeless Joe Jackson to be player second from left in top row.  These slides originate from the estate of former Cleveland Plain Dealer staff photographer Frank W. Smith, who traveled with the Cleveland Naps to their spring facilities for many years during the 1910's. 19 of close to 60 glass magic lantern slides offered in our spring auction from the original photographer's collection. All slides from this collection have been professionally imaged and winning bidders will receive both the slides and a one-of-a-kind 8" x 10" archival quality print with their shipment.
