The issue we know as the 1936 Overland Candy cards were wrappers for a piece of penny candy featuring an illustration of one of 54 ballplayers, along with his team, position, and some basic biographical information. Found in several different colors, the wrappers are essentially wax paper and are typically very condition sensitive, creased and wrinkled simply from being wrapped around a piece of candy (and eventually torn open). This example of Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Gordon has been graded POOR 10 by SGC but that hardly tells the story. The wrapper is entirely intact, graded thus due only to the aforementioned wrinkling/creasing from their intended use. Due to their scarcity and odd size, just 20 examples have been graded, and none have graded higher than GOOD. This is the only example of Joe Gordon's card to have been graded. Still, the technical grade of this card is irrelevant as the important factors are that the card is intact not wrinkled to the point of damage and not torn. Strong Hall of Fame rookie card from an interesting set.
