Strong second-year card of the Giants centerfielder and eventual Hall of Famer. This example's bright, bold colors have remained, even after more than 70 years since being printed. A small bit of paper/color loss toward the bottom left corner is tough to notice unless with close inspection, as the background design includes white clouds, hiding the defect. Centering is south and east on the canvas. While the corners and three of the four edges are strong, there is some light chipping along the left edge.

Light staining toward the top right corner further explains the card's technical grade, but this is a wonderful example with immense eye appeal, and one of the iconic images of one of the game's all-time greats. Few could predict the greatness in store for this young man when the card was issued. More than 20 years later, Mays retired with 660 home runs and is thought by many to be the greatest player who ever lived.
