One of the handful of horizontal cards from Topps' first set, this colorful offering almost makes Walt Dropo a deity with the halo effect behind his head in the image. Dropo won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1950 before having a bit of a sophomore slump in 1951, but 1952 saw him return to form, finishing 26th in MVP voting. He was traded halfway through the season to Detroit, but 1952 Topps #235 still depicts him as a member of the Boston Red Sox.
Gorgeous, bright colors, crisp corners, and a clean back give this example wonderful eye appeal on both sides. Very minor diamond cutting and some light edge chipping keep the card from grading even higher than it did. Some light surface abrasions near the top left corner of the background further explain the grade.
