This beautifully colorful example from the T206 set features catcher Jeff Sweeney using two hands to secure a pitch thrown from a teammate. Behind Sweeney is green grass and a gorgeous light blue sky, whose colors have not faded over time. Rounded corners with some light paper loss and foxing are the reasons for the card's technical grade, but it still has tremendous eye appeal. Some faded pen writing on the back has not bled through to the front, but is another reason for the grade. SGC has only ever graded 13 total examples of this El Principe de Gales back version of the Sweeney, with only eleven receiving a higher grade than the GOOD 2 offered here.

Edward Francis "Jeff" Sweeney played 644 games over the course of 9 seasons, mostly for the New York Highlanders/Yankees. His best season was 1912, when he collected 94 hits in 110 games.
