There are two different Red Murray cards included in the T206 set. The first version depicts the outfielder batting, while this portrait version is the more rare of the two. A deep, dark blue background dominates the image, which shows Murray smiling in his Giants sweater and a black cap. The colors have remained strong, as have the corners which are noticeably sharp for the grade. Centering is slightly north and east on the canvas.

The bit of color loss in the center of the bill of Murray's cap is an issue with the entire print run of this issue, not with this example in particular. A crease running vertically down the right side of the center of the card is the reason for the technical grade, but this card has massive eye appeal. PSA has only ever graded 14 total examples of this Old Mill back version of the Murray, with only 7 receiving a higher grade than the VG 3 offered here.

John Joseph "Red" Murray led the league with 7 home runs during the 1909 season, following two seasons in which he hit 7 home runs each, as well. He finished Top-20 in MVP voting in 1912 and 1913, and helped the New York Giants win 4 National League pennants during his time with the team.
