A portrait of Billy Nattress before a solid sky blue background adorns this beautiful example from the T206 set. Centering is nearly perfect, just slightly east on the canvas here. Rounded corners with some minor chipping in the lower left corner are consistent with the grade, which is further explained by some smudges, possibly from glue residue, in the lower right corner and along the bottom border. The back has early signs of foxing and more light smudges, but is overall very nice. PSA has
only ever graded 11 total
examples of this El Principe de Gales back version of the Nattress,
with
only three receiving a
higher grade than the VG 3 offered here.
Billy Nattress' career started at the tender age of 16 for the Kansas City Blues of the Western League. He was a career Minor Leaguer who played parts of 18 seasons in professional baseball, retiring after his age 33 season. He spent his prime playing Shortstop for the Class-A Buffalo Bisons of the Eastern League from 1902 to 1909, where he averaged 140 hits and 23 doubles per 162 games.
