Plagued by a propensity to issues bases on balls, the major league career of Ken Chase lasted seven seasons due in large part due to movement the lefthander got on his pitches.  Ted Williams called him the "toughest southpaw" he had ever faced, high praise indeed.  He's scrawled his signature, in a dark black ink with some lift seen, across this 1939 Play Ball, authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA.  Chase passed in 1985, making his signature quite difficult, particularly on a card.  Paper loss and remnants are evident on the reverse, the unfortunate product of scrapbook removal.  The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
