The American Caramel E90-1 issue is sometimes referred to as the T206
of
caramel issues, and has been dubbed "The Kraken" in some quarters due
to the challenges of collecting the 120 subjects found within. The set
was issued with a
stick of caramel that, as one might imagine, led to condition issues
which plague the set. This colorful example was spared some of
the more direct
results of that, though a light stain is visible along the top edge.
Corners
exhibit rounding consistent with its grade, with the two bottom corners
showing some light paper loss, as well. Some snow is present, with
centering to the northwest on the canvas. Notice the
fleur-de-lis on Criger's cap and sleeve, which was short-lived on the
St. Louis Browns uniforms from 1908-1910. Criger had 6 hits and 4 RBI in
the first ever World Series, helping the Boston Americans defeat the
Pittsburgh Pirates 5 games to 3. PSA has only graded 19 Crigers higher
than the VG+ 3.5 given to this example. This card is simply a beautiful specimen from this popular set.
