Though the Gilbert & Bacon studio of Philadelphia was known to have taken pictures of Athletics and Phillies players, outfielder Charles "Lefty" Marr never played with either of those teams.  A left-handed throwing third baseman, Marr was photographed here as a member of the Columbus Solons of the American Association, where he played in 1889.  Marr is the subject of five different poses in the Old Judge issue, this one would become card #293-4.  Soiling and foxing is evident, as is some surface and corner wear, however, as far as Old Judge "proof" cabinets are concerned, this one is tougher to find than most with the Gilbert & Bacon photo credit.
