This second-year card of Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidt is one of his most attractive and is a key card in the 1974 Topps set. The first year that Topps began producing its cards in a single series 1974 Topps is fraught with condition issues and multiple variations and thus remains popular among collectors today. For rookie card collectors who prefer cards where the subject appears alone this is Schmidt"s first mainstream card where he does not appear with other players. One of the few examples of this card that does not contain the distracting yellow dots within the Philadelphia banner (a known print defect with this card) this is an exceptional high grade example. With sharp corners crisp color and rough cut edges that are consistent with cards of this era this is an excellent choice for a collector of high-grade Hall of Famers or someone looking to begin a "74 Topps set.Population Data:SGC Population: 245 total graded 8 at this level none higherPSA Population: 1 915 total graded 161 at this level 4 higher
