Wonderful "Tools of the Trade" collection as used by Dennis Clotworthy during his time as Tigers batboy. This collection of material was used during his day-to-day work in 1975 and while not your ordinary collection of baseball memorabilia is simply fascinating. The collection includes a variety of items one might find in a major league on deck circle. The grouping includes 1) 12" x 12" knee pad used by players when kneeling on deck; 2) 14 oz Humco Pine Tar can opened with product still inside (that we did not inspect). Staining consistent with use; 3) Weighted batting donut - well-used 1lb. 12oz. weighted donut with significant paint transfers and staining; 4) Rosin bag; 5) Professional pine tar applicator (still tacky after 40 years) leatherette-type material with cloth interior well-covered with pine tar; 6) Home-made (and much preferred) pine tar applicator made of a square of towel folded on top of itself and heavily taped at the edges. According to Clotworthy most of the players preferred the home-made brand. This example is well-used with a heavy application of pine tar. An interesting and offbeat group of game-used items that make a fantastic display piece.
