I have one to sell!
The 1955 baseball season is one of the most memorable and widely-collected today. A monster 51 home run 127 RBI season from Willie Mays 20-win seasons from both Don Newcombe and Robin Roberts and a tight American League race between the Yankees and Indians that went right down to the wire were all overshadowed by one of the most dramatic World Series in history. The 1955 World Series sealed by Sandy Amoros' game-saving catch in Game 7 remains legendary among New Yorkers and vintage collectors. The 1955 Topps baseball set is among the most desirable and valuable of all the Topps issues. Presented is a spectacular Topps baseball set from that year. For all the reasons above as well as for containing the rookie cards of Hall of Famers Roberto Clemente Sandy Koufax and Harmon Killebrew the 1955 Topps issue remains one of the company's most popular. This example is a gorgeous mid to higher-grade example with even the lower-grade cards presenting extremely well with mild corner wear and stronger centering than is typical for 1950s Topps issues. The set was carefully assembled by an advanced collector with particular attention paid to color and image quality. This is a spectacular set. Grading 4% NM or better 21% EX-MT; 57% EX; 17% VG-EX and just 1% lesser with no beaters whatsoever the key cards grade as follows: #2 Williams (HOF - BVG EX 5); #4 Kaline (HOF - PSA EX+ 5.5); #28 Banks (HOF - PSA EX 5); #31 Spahn (HOF - EX); #47 Aaron (HOF - SGC EX+ 70); #50 J. Robinson (HOF - PSA EX-MT 6); #100 Irvin (HOF - PSA EX+ 5.5); #123 Koufax (HOF RC - GAI EX-MT 6); #124 Killebrew (HOF RC - PSA EX-MT 6); #155 Mathews (HOF - PSA EX 5); #164 Clemente (HOF RC - BVG EX 5); #187 Hodges (PSA EX-MT 6); #189 Rizzuto (HOF - PSA EX-MT 6); #194 Mays (HOF - VG/EX); #198 Berra (HOF - GAI EX 5); #210 Snider (HOF - BVG EX+ 5.5). This is simply a stunning set; a beautiful example with gorgeous keys and a clean consistently sharp eye appeal. When we grade sets we factor centering into the grade and in the case of this set many of the cards we graded EX or VG/EX were assessed at that level due only to centering. The eye appeal of the cards in most cases is far stronger than the technical grade. An absolutely fantastic 1955 Topps set; the finest we have ever offered. 206 cards total.
