There is simply no way to effectively describe this card.At first glance what we have is an EX/MT - or perhaps better - example of Tris Speaker"s T3 Turkey Red card an anomaly that anyone with familiarity with the graded population of Turkey Reds understands is a virtual impossibility. No Speaker in existence has graded above EX and as one of the five or six key cards in the set such a high-grade card would clearly be one of the most valuable Turkey Red cabinets ever sold. Even at close glance the quality of Speaker"s iconic image appears flawless the crowd and stadium overhang in the background coupled with the card"s deep color make it practically three-dimensional. The corners are sharp and exhibit very little wear. The borders are crisp and the 1-75 checklist on the reverse well-centered clean and bold. The card appears EX/MT at first glance but also at second and third glance.One pulls out one"s jewelers loupe to examine more closely what appears too good to be true. And then one discovers the very faint wrinkles on the sides of the card the kind of wrinkles the absolutely deflate the heart of a collector because they force the use of the dreaded term "technical grade."Here we have a Turkey Red cabinet that is likely the most beautiful T3 Tris Speaker in the hobby but has been accurately assessed the grade of VG+ the "technical grade" the result of two small sets of surface wrinkles that are likely not a result of any sort of damage but flaws within the card stock itself. The wrinkles under magnification do not yield any of the sort of paper wear or color loss typical of such wrinkles - it is likely the wrinkles existed on the press sheet when the card was printed.
