Interesting stereoview card depicting a local ballgame being played in the middle of the street in a small West Virginia town. Labeled "Oil Country Wetzel Co. West Virginia USA " the card depicts men women and children playing together a pitcher about to deliver his pitch to a woman in a full dress awaiting at home plate to hit the pitch. A variety of other townfolk surround the game some as onlookers and some apparently as players. The stereoview is in GOOD condition with a lengthy tear in the left image and some mild staining and wear throughout. As with many stereoviews this one features a pronounced curvature of the cardboard (held flat for the purposes of scanning the image for the catalog). Still an outstanding document of the earliest days of the game and how it was played in small town USA.
