This is an extraordinary colorful and beautiful grouping of cards featuring postage stamps from around the world. Resembling the 48-card T132 Mail Carriers & Stamps issue produced by Pulliam Cigars it appears that these cards worked more like the advertising trade cards of the 19th Century produced by a single manufacturer with a blank back and then sold to third party companies to advertise their products or services. Many different types of companies utilized these cards resulting in a number of different ACC designations including D73 E239 and K138 among others.Printed on lightweight paper these beautiful cards measure approximately 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" and feature a vivid color image depicting mail delivery in various countries from around the world. In each corner of the card is a facsimile of a cancelled postage stamp. The overwhelming majority of the cards in this collection (25 of 26) were used to advertise the products of a company called Golden West of Portland and Seattle. Aside from our consignor attempting to learn more about these cards by asking questions online our research can uncover no other examples of Golden West cards in the hobby. There are however a significant number of different Golden West-related companion products (i.e. photos cans and jars etc). The Golden West company manufactured a number of different types of products and used the trade cards to advertise them. Included in this group are cards advertising Golden West Coffee (classified as K138) Golden West Baking Powder Golden West Spices Golden West Tea and Golden West Extracts. The back advertisements are bold and beautiful each utilizing the slogan "Just Right." The back advertisements are among the more attractive and interesting that we have seen on any trade cards. While we elected to leave the majority of this collection ungraded we did choose a small selection to be graded by SGC. This collection includes several examples of each back variety and multiple duplicates as follows:1) Golden West Extracts: 2 examples including The Mail In Luxemburg and The Mail in Turkey (SGC FAIR 20 due in part to a second advertising stamp on the reverse for a Portland hardware store); 2) D73 Golden West Baking Powder: 6 examples including The Mail in Natal (2) The Mail in Canada (4 includi
