In Game 5 of the 1920 World Series second baseman Bill Wambsganss of the Indians accomplished something that had not been accomplished before and hasn't been since. Catching a hard line drive off the batt of Brooklyn's Clarence Mitchell he stepped on second base to double off Pete Kilduff and then tagged Otto Miller as he arrived at second base completing the only unassisted triple play in World Series history. As a result of that play the light-hitting infielder continues to be widely collected and revered today. An example of his difficult 1917-20 Mendelsohn card graded VG 3 by PSA exhibits corner and edge wear consistent with the grade though some moderate wrinkling that stretches from the bottom center of the card up through Wambsganss' left leg might suggest that the card is weak for the grade. Still Mendelsohn's are particularly condition-sensitive due to their gloss as well as their large size (4 3/8" x 6 3/8"). As the cards are difficult to find this is a very desirable example.
