One of the elder statesmen of the 1911 Pacific Coast League Judge McCredie was winding down a 20 year baseball career that included 56 games with the 1903 Brooklyn Superbas of the major leagues. McCredie who was the manager of the 1911 Portland team was responsible for signing a Hawaiian player named Lang Akana. Akana"s signing resulted in a player boycott causing McCredie to become a vocal opponent to baseball"s color line. McCredie was also an excellent scout signing players like Hall of Famers Dave Bancroft and Harry Heilmann. Eventually McCredie took a job as a scout with the Detroit Tigers then returning to the PCL to manage the 1934 Portland Beavers. McCredie"s final words uttered on his deathbed: "Let the game go on."This is an outstanding card of a long-time baseball man with a great history in the Pacific Coast League. Graded FAIR by SGC the card face is marked with a small pinhole as well as some creasing and scuffing consistent with the grade.
