Negro League All-Star Artie Wilson had a storied career between the American Negro Leagues and the Puerto Rican Professional Basbeall League. In 1948 the New York Yankees purchased his contract and assigned him to the minor league Newark Bears but Wilson jimped the team and signed with San Diego Padres resulting in a protest. Ultimately Wilson wound up with the Oakland Oaks where he won the batting and stolen base titles. By 1951 he was with the New York Giants where he was used as a utility infielder and pinch runner but never caught on finishing his career in the PCL. Sadly Wilson died just four years ago.
