Personal check made out to the Rye News Service in August of 1952 with the unmistakable signature of Ed Barrow. Barrow had a long career in baseball serving as president of the Eastern League in 1910 then managing the Red Sox from 1918 through 1910. In 1921 Barrow became chief of baseball operations (and upon Jacob Ruppert's death the President) of the Yankees where he remained for 25 years often credited with building the Yankees dynasty. During his tenure with the Yankees the team won ten World Championships. He was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1953. Barrow was seven years removed from the Yankees when he wrote this $7.75 check ostensibly for his newspaper delivery. In VG/EX condition the check is extraordinarily attractive and the signature itself in outstanding condition. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
