The Rose Co. Postcard issue of 1908-09 are among the most highly sought-after postcard issues in the hobby more than 200 known player subjects currently known consistently selling for record prices. It is theorized that the popularity of the postcards led the Rose Company to create a blank postcard with no picture in the center frame enabling users to place their own photo inside the center frame. Members of the Springfield Ponies of the Connecticut State League did this creating a "home made" subset of 13 player postcards that were discovered in the early 2000s. These blank postcards were then made available via wholesale distribution with various vendors imprinting their own logos and phrases on the front along with advertising on the reverse. This rare example the only such example on SGC's population report simply reads "Keep Your Base Until Then." There is no additional advertising imprinted on the reverse and the piece has not been postally used; SGC's grade of GOOD 30 is due largely to overall wear and soiling with some writing and erasures on the reverse. A rare non-player example of a Rose postcard the history of which may be lost to time for all but the most dedicated hobbyist hoping to unravel another of collecting's many mysteries.
