This SGC VG 3 grade for Charlotte's John Coutts reflects above-average corners, strong player photo, and near-perfect centering. It presents stronger than VG, in fact, so might have been graded by someone on the stricter side. Combined population reports show just one at SGC and four more at PSA.
The prescence of serious-minded John Coutts on the Charlotte team helps date this set to 1910, as he played for at least three documented teams in other towns for 1909, when T209's "art set" came out. This black-and-white, 200+ card T209 "photo series" set stands out as one of the largest ever featuring minor league players, yet is obscure enough to be rarely seen or discussed. Love of the Game is excited to offer a sizable number of singles in this auction, freshly graded and new to the hobby. (If these photos originate with the teams themselves, we're also looking at contemporary stadiums and grandstands from that era.)
