Yank Robinson was a capable infielder and patient hitter for several teams and leagues, with his St. Louis Browns tenure lasting through 1889 before he jumped to the Players League for 1890. While his image resembles a teenager, it seems Yank just looked younger than his age. Note that the apparent smudge along its left side was a small copyright notice that N172 must have used in earlier versions of this photo before removing it when they printed this particular pose, it is on the negative and not the card.
The PSA VG 3 grade reflects this card's slanted top and bottom borders, quality player photo, touched corners, and minimal back marks. Its population report shows this as the highest graded of just three total encapsulated!
This card appears as #390-3's reference image on page 365 of the Old Judge book by Miller, Gonsowski, and Masson. Love of the Game is proud to offer several cards seen in their outstanding work of research and presentation as part of our 100+ N172 listings.
