According to the Goodwin & Co. Old Judge reference book, John appeared in some early season games, injured his shoulder, and failed to recover in time for the Whites to put him back on the field. Stats prove limited enough from that era to hope that further research might illuminate his professional career before and after this cup of St. Louis coffee.
