Often overlooked by collectors, the 1964 Auravision Records are actual playable plastic picture discs measuring 6 3/4" x 6 3/4" and playable on a standard turntable. Each of the records contains a full-color photo of the player, with biographical and statistical information printed on the reverse. Playing the record on a turntable reveals a five-minute interview with the player, conducted by sportscaster Marty Glickman. The records were obtainable through a mail-in promotion conducted by Milk Duds and Meadow Gold milk, though large quantities of the records eventually made their way into the hobby - though, for some reason, the Willie Mays record was not as readily available and is considered scarce today, marked as single-printed in the Standard Catalog. Presented here is an attractive complete set, averaging EX to EX/MT condition. Each presents well, the primary condition flaws being related to corner dings. The Willie Mays grades technically lower, missing its center hole punch, indicating it has been played. The plastic coating on the record is very protective, resulting in excellent eye appeal. 16 records total.
