An intriguing image of a tougher Hall of Famer from N172, as pitcher Amos Rusie holds his arm extended toward the viewer (pose 395-4). This attractive composition is marred by text, either elegant cursive or a personal stamp, running down its right edge. Aside from that mark, Rusie's image remains strong and other wear is typical of light handling, with touched corners and a fleck on one eye. The SGC FAIR 1.5 grade reflects these details and it's intriguing to think an owner will identify that text at some point in the future.

Hall of Fame pitcher Amos Rusie boasted 246 wins across a 10-year Major League career, primarily with the Giants. He logged four consecutive 30-win seasons and six 20+ consecutive seasons, burnishing a Cooperstown career well before baseball's Hall of Fame existed. He left a permanent impact on pitching itself when a fastball hospitalized fellow Hall of Famer Hughie Jennings. League officials responded by moving the pitching rubber back about ten feet to its current distance, giving batters a bit more time to dodge something so dangerous.
