October 1924 letter from Elmer Layden, famed member of the "Four Horsemen" of Notre Dame, to his then-girlfriend Evelyn Byrne of Iowa City. The 4-page letter has quite a bit of football-related content, but at the end admonishes her "You had better stay away from those husky football men." Despite pledging his love and addressing her as "Sweetheart," things didn't work out for them, as Layden married Edythe Davis in 1926. The letter is in VG condition save for age-related folds from being stored in its envelope, with some age-related wrinkling as well. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
