Those trademark 1971 Topps black borders bedevil even the most dedicated collector, as every chip and bump reveals white card stock and can sully a striking contrast between star photo and its dark frame. Steve's glove stands out in detail, looking freshly oiled and treated.
This PSA NM 7 dodged almost every hazard the last 50+ years threw its way and came out no worse for wear. Two corners show a flake or hint of white and it otherwise captures the Hall of Fame look of Steve Carlton well as he established the 1970s dominance that would first bring Philly a championship and later garner him a Cooperstown plaque. Back centering sits a touch northwest and its image otherwise remains clean and clear. (Note any horizontal marks appear to be part of the grading case itself.)
