As implied by the nickname "El Inmortal" on this card's reverse, Martin Dihigo earned fans and respect throughout his long, amazing career, enough to be mentioned as a virtual god of the diamond. That being the case, so few cards are known from this era featuring Dihigo that each one adds significant insight into what it was like where he played. This piped Cienfuegos uniform, for example, features an American shield that would never appear on Cuban gear today, barring a virtual reversal in the geopolitical world!

This set of paper-thin, colorful pictures from the 1946-47 winter league season rarely survives to our current day and almost never in anything but low grade. Martin's SGC AUTH reflects that reality, but trimming and surface marks can't hide the strong figure of Dihigo himself. Their population report shows this as his only example, with just 18 known for the whole set! Any card for Dihigo, especially those in short supply, should receive significant interest from his enduring, "Immortal" fans.
