Fan favorite Tony Kubek was still early in his career when posing for this 1960 Topps card. He had already established himself as a star, but 1960 would be his best season, as he batted . 273 with 14 home runs and 62 RBI while playing shortstop and all three outfield positions. Sadly, after losing time to military service in 1962, back and neck injuries derailed his career. After his playing career, he became an excellent broadcaster, doing color commentary for NBC's Game of the Week. His broadcast career continued into the 1990s, when he retired due to overall dissatisfaction with baseball's financially driven direction.
